An application may be denied for any of the following reasons:
- We were unable to confirm your identity,
- We were unable to confirm Maryland residency,
- We were unable to verify that you were terminated from federal employment within the 180 days prior to your application and on or after January 1, 2025, or
- We were unable to verify that you were terminated due to a mass layoff, relocation, or closure of a unit of the federal government, or to similar circumstances beyond your control.
If you receive a denial email but believe you are eligible for this emergency loan, you may request a review of this decision by submitting an Appeal Form in your Submittable account. If you do not complete and submit the Appeal Form within 15 business days of the denial notice, the denial will be final unless good cause for the delay can be shown. Appeal Forms will be reviewed within 5 business days, and a final decision on your application will be communicated to you by email.
